Kea on side mirror

| Was checking a map parked in the gorge coming down from Arthurs Pass during a howling storm, and heard a "whump" on the side of my car. This guy (Kea, famous alpine parrot of New Zealand and scourge of backpackers and car parts) was staring into my OPEN window, which I scrambled to roll up, grab the camera, and snapped this. No need to hurry, he wouldn't leave til I turned the wipers on. No lunch for him! |

Hi Merryl,
Welcome to TrekNature!
This is a really spontaneous and cute photo. Too bad the window was closed.
Regards,
Shahar.

merhaba Merryl;
davetsiz misafir, arasanız bulamazsınız çekmek için :) tebrikler selamlar
Hoot shriek laugh etc. You got off lightly didnt you, looks like you still had all your car. I watched bloke use his wipers to move one once and the kea latched on and ripped the blade out of the arm. Ah well bird was cold, it was snowing and yes it was drivers wiper that was wrecked. He certainly wouldnt have thought twice about poking his head inside the car if that was what he wanted to do, they dont come much cheekier than the kea.
Lovely shot
