Lenticular clouds Invercargill
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| This was from the golf course at Sandy Point Domain outside of Invercargill, mid day. I am looking toward the west or southwest. It had been very windy the day before and there was also another southwesterly front predicted. Lenticular clouds (altocumulus lenticularis) occur on the downwind side of mountains, in the path of high wind currents with the right amount of moisture. They often predict a weather change (a good bet in NZ?) They are sometimes mistaken for UFOs. |

Nice colors and POV. Good details of the clouds. Careful with the noise that is evident in the sky. Try taking pictures at ISO-100 with aperture setting at around f/16. There is also dust spots that can be removed in post processing.
