[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Taking a stroll in the golden evening sun in the little town of Lake Tekapo in New Zealand's South Island, I looked up to see these magpies. Parent and teenager, I think. This is the Australian magpie, known in NZ as the makipae, and formally known as Gymnorhina tibicen. These magpies didn't fly over from Oz - they were introduced (like quite a few other birds in NZ). The idea was to help control insect pests on farm land. There is apparently a totally black version also in NZ, but I never saw that one - this is the white-backed magpie.

Les oiseaux sont magnifiques et très intéressants.J'aime cette composition; les deux oiseaux sur la même branche. Est-ce que les yeux des oiseaux sont de différentes couleurs ou il s'agit de l'éclairage ?

Good shot John, the birds in their near identical poses in the fir tree look great. Well seen and captured, the colours and details show up well. TFS
