[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a kea (Nestor Notabilis - isn't that an impressive name?!). This New Zealand bird is one of the world's few alpine parrots. Having said that, it is often found at lowish altitudes, not necessarily tramping around in the snow. The kea is very sociable and tends to patrol parking lots of those hiking up to glaciers or stopping to look at mountain views. It is looking for handouts, of course, but also is known to nibble on rubber seals around car widscreens and window wipers, tents, and so on.
This handsome fella was captured on a hike up to the Rob Roy Glacier in the Wanaka area of the centre of the South Island. One of these days, I'll create a "faux" background of a NZ alpine snow-covered scene, but for the moment we'll have to make do with what was actually there.
The title "The Wobbly Kea" is from the name of an excellent little restaurant in the tiny town of Arthurs Pass, where we had an excellent dinner under the watchful eye of their kea perched outside on the roof gutter.

wow nice photo good colours, nice use of DOF I like the point of view with the kea looking behind.

this a very beautiful bird, the pattern in the plumage are amazing and the colours are lovely.
Very good sharpness and good POV. IMO it's a bit tight above.

Very sharp capture of a very cheeky bird. Love the colours, which come through very nice under the soft overcast light. I think I would have probably be tempted to shoot this one in portrait orientation....I guess you could crop.
