[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Something a little different from me today.
Yesterday we took a walk along the beach between the Motukiekie Rocks,which you can see in the distance,and the mouth of 10 Mile Creek.
10 Mile is a creek that runs through a deep gorge from near Mt Ryall & the Croesus Knob at the top of the Paparoa Range,right past Mt George,and out to sea at a rather inaccessible spot far beneath the main coast road.
Locals know of a layby further up the road where there is a winding track & a steel ladder down the cliff to the beach.
From the bottom of this track near the Motukiekie Rocks,one can walk along the beach at low tide,all the way to 10 Mile Creek.
This shot was taken about halfway between 10 Mile & Motukiekie.

The geology in this area is quite remarkable.
A short distance inland is a massive coal mining area,and coal and quartz are readily found on the surface all around this area.
The rocks here are a strange assortment of sandstones and conglomerates,with chunks of rose quartz,smoky quartz,jasper and many other coloured rocks that give the boulders along parts of the shore the appearance of lolly cake.
Later on I will post some close ups of these strange rocks.

Hi Steve.

Love the low POV on this shot it really shows of the vastness of space right along the beach front.

Excellent d.o.f with a good reflection of the sky in the pool in the foreground, a really well balanced image.

Such an effective rocky naturescape in depth-enhancing wide angle capture Steve, almost monochromatic rocks and pebbles in far BG and immediate FG are in fine contrast with the blue of the cloudy sky and its reflection in the water. Very nice combination indeed!

Hallo Steve
You are making me very jealous for having the oppertunity to walk alongside the beach and being able to capture scenes as beautiful as this one. Here in our area (we stay about 20km away from the beach) it is not safe at all and therefore I have not been to the beach for years. This is indeed such a relaxing and serene atmosphere you have captured here and I am glad you are sharing it with us today. It really brought back some lovely childhood memories, especially the different sizes of rocks alongside the water. The image as a whole is really beautiful and I especially like the reflection of the sky and clouds in the water. Indeed a pleasant sight. Thanks for sharing.

Great seascape in wonderful colours. The black rocks give this photo a bit a threatend atmosphere. The low POV makes it all very impressive. Excellent composition. You've taken this photo just on the right place.
