[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Today I felt like some fresh mountain air, so I packed a wee rucksack and hitched to Arthurs Pass, high in the Southern Alps.
I jumped out at the Bealy River parking area and headed across the Bealy River and up the nearest mountain.
The vegetation here is predominanly stunted mountain beeches, with assorted native plants such as Dracophylum,Olearia and flaxes.
A little way up the track I came across this delightful mountain stream.
I wasn't able to stay in this spot long.
An icy wind blew down the valley making my fingers very very cold.

Hi Steve. Co-o-o-o-l shot. I see you got the new camera out for a run. Looking at this shot it looks like photographer and camera handled one another just fine. Nice composition with lead in looking up these snow covered bolders.

It's cool outside. Is this the first snow on Southern Island? (yes, yes I now this are the mountains and the altitude is not on sealevel)Great POV, BG and maybe a little bit to dark??

Hi Steve,
A great reminder that winter is soon starting to arrive in your neck of the woods. The view with the fresh snow and the dark colored pine trees is great. I like how the rocks lead the eye into the photo. Great work on the exposure, keeping the snow white without blowing the details. I might have croped of the top part of the photo so that the full focus is on the stream.
