Yellow-brown woodtuft
(Hypholoma acutum)

I hope I have the right identification here.
When I first saw these I thought they might be the Giant Flamecap (Gymnopilus junonius) but on closer inspection noted that they lacked the 'rusty' texture and darker gills of the aforementioned.
The elevated nipple in the centre of the cap was also another clue as to their correct ID

These colourful fungi are found mainly in the autumn in most native forest types throughout New Zealand on fallen logs and branches and growing from leaf litter.
The stem is up to 20mm high and the cap is up to 39mm in diameter.
A ring is absent although a few fibres of cortina may adhere to the margin.
The flesh is pale yellow-brown and brown in the stem.
The spore print is purple-brown to black.
I have no information as yet as to whether this species is edible,so unless you know for sure yourself,I wouldn't try it.

Hi Steve,
Wonderful shot of these colourful fingi set among the green undergrowth. Lovely colour contrasts and I like their shapes. Even if you are not sure about its edible qualities they really look yummy. Excellent POV to portray this charming atmosphere and very nicely composed. Kudos.
