Yesterday we took a day trip up to Punakaiki to take a walk on the beach and get a few 'snaps'
I took this shot from the road just north of the Pororari River at Punakaiki, but at the worst possible time really.
It was mid morning and I was facing northeast.
In New Zealand that means that you're pretty much facing the sun.
When I first looked at this photo it showed.
It was a hazy blue mess of lens flares and glare.
A little PP work was needed to get this to the stage where it was at least presentable, but I thought it was a nice enough image to share.
Looking up toward the limestone plateau, you can see the erect fronds of distinctive coastal Nikau palms almost glowing with the sunlight filtering through them.
Other common trees here are Rata,Beech,Kahikatea,Rimu,Miro, and Matai.
The undergrowth cosists of mainly Coprosmas,Mahoe (Violaceae) Tree Ferns and a tangle of Supplejack and Kiekie.
Hope you like.
Cheers

Hi Steve,
Thats a very nice composition from different kind of NZ trees. Specially I like the Nikau Palms at most. They are so wonderful. You did a great job in PP. The darker foreground and the beautiful sunlight on the trees at the BG make this photo special. I like that. Regards and TFS Bob
Namastay Steve,
Such lovely greens. Nicely composed shot of the rain forest. Thanks a lot for sharing.
Sincerely
Hara
