[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Many people have heard of Punakaikis famous Pancake Rocks and Blowholes.
The pancake rocks are layers of limestone rock that have been eroded by the elements for many years to create an amazing landscape of fluted pillars and blocks.
Weathered limestone is known as Karren, and the limestone landscape is known as Karst, after a region in the former Yugoslavia where this type of landscape occurs.
This is a view of the Pancake Rocks at Dolomite Point,Punakaiki, taken from my kayak.
Hope you like it.
Cheers
Steve

Hello Steve,

Very nice landscape. What a beautiful rocks. Specialy the colours. You can see the limestone layers perfectly. The colours (I think) are very natural. I like the composition. The hills on the BG, the bigger rock on the right and the blue sky. Its a good POV. Regards and TFS BOB

One thing that always intrigues me is formations like this. On the photo here it seems so carved out and as if some of them have been put in place. Simply a good POV, with details that appear as seen live.
Just noticed more of your work, and I must get through all your gallery now.

Wonderful rocks and wonderful picture. I like composition and detail on stones

Hi Steve.
A different angle of view to what I always see them. Excellent. Look pretty crumbly from this angle with the broken pieces.
Great sharpness, exposure and detail.

They are wicked rocks!
It looks like a giant has been chipping away at a lump of wood with a knife!
+++ Excellent composition to keep the weird rocks as a focal point.
Great sharpness and detail.
Smashing overall :)

Hi Steve,
Amazing rock formations. Interesting but beautiful shapes. Very impressive sharpness and the colours and setting are just fabulous. Wonderful how safe the rocks are to climb on? Excellent POV to capture this scene and very nicely composed. Kudos.
