[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
On a recent walk through the forest alongside the Pororari River at Punakaiki,I found this clump of extremely slimy fungi.

My initial guess at the ID proved to be incorrect, and I am now reliably informed by Clive Shirley (Fungiman and creator of the NZ fungi website 'The Hidden Forest') that these are in fact Armillaria novae-zelandiae.

The Pororari River is situated in a deep limestone gorge, which gets a minimal amount of sunlight, and therefore is nearly always damp. The sub tropical looking forest that lines the gorge is home to an amazing variety of fungi, and a walk along the river provides excellent opportunities for photography.
I hope you enjoy this image.

You caught the slimy look on this fungi very well Steve. Good composition and light. Regards Steve.

Hi Steve! How are you my friend?
What a nice cluster you bring to us. Are you sure they are Russulas? they seem very higroscopic to be Russulas, but your NZ fungui always surprise me.
Nice light DOF and details.
Hope you are well, best regards.

Hi Steve,
WOW! Now that is some slimey fungi. Flash exposure really did a good job with the colors and adding a nice shine to the slime. You wouldn't eat this stuff, would you?? Amazing....

Hello Steve,

What a humid cluster of fungi! Are they big? You got a very good pov and we can easily see how slimy they are! You managed very well the exposure and did a good composition! Great shot and TFS,

(Points tomorrow).
