[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a shot of some fairly typical New Zealand rainforest,taken on the Croesus Track,as it begins to descend the coastal side of the Paparoas.
Most of the Nothofagus and Kamahi cloud forest has given way here to much brighter green broadleaf and fern vegetation.
Blechnum and Asplenium ferns play a big part in the rainforest undergrowth,the most common species by far being Blechnum discolor.
A little firther up the track,the vegetation changes radically,and the sub canopy is dominated by the sooty black trunks of mountain beech trees.
Here on the lower slopes,it is not that different to the warmer rainforest areas of the North Island,indeed,this shot could just as easily have been taken in a North Island forest.

Hello Steve,
A fine capture of a NZ forest glade, the composition of ferns providing a fine study in greens. I like the composition with the light gradually being stronger towards the left of the image.

Hi Steve,
a very beautiful and calm depiction of the forest. Lighting is very effectively use and the ferns give a good pretty view. i like the soft greens in making this presentation so cool.

Simply fantastic image. The depth and shades of green of the different species of ferns and bromeliads, as some see it. Magnificent colors are natural. I believe that it was difficult to handle in the normal light of these forests. Excellent work.
