How often do we hear it said "The younger generation today have no respect for their elders"?
It seems this is true in the mushroom world too.
These two youngsters emerged from my front lawn the other day,and rudely began to push aside the older Amanita with no regard at all for its frailty.
Needless to say,the old codger soon lay down and died after this.
Actually, even the younger ones only lasted a day or two .... straight after this we had a massive deluge which put the dampers on healthy fungus growth for a while.
Consequently, our front lawn, which should be sporting a brilliant display of bright red Amanita muscaria,is covered in slimy little mounds of rotting mushrooms .... yuk!

If you'd like to read more about Amanita muscaria, the Fly Agaric, please read the notes from my previous post here

Hope you like the shot.
Thanks for looking.
Steve

Well captioned picture of these three mushrooms, Steve.
The old one is actually getting elbowed out of the space by the two youngsters!
Wonderful sharpness and natural colours.
Thanks and regards.

Nice capture with a fine title Steve.
The composition and technical features are top notch and taken from a fine POV.
These Amanitas look like another species than the bright red muscaria.
Thanks and have a good week,
Ivan

Hi Steve!

It's always the same old story, isn't it?

:-)

A beautiful, humerous but nevertheless realistic posting and picture. I like your notes very much. They suit the subject of the picture at best. The picture itself is very pleasant to look at.

Kind regards

Markus

Se nota que estás en otra latitud... choca ver hongos fotografiados en el mes de Abril :-)
Bien captados los elementos jóvenes y su "poco respeto" por el ya anciano.
Un abrazo: Josep Ignasi.

I've seen red Amanita muscarias and one green(!!) one too, but never a brown one Steve.
Good shot, and I enjoyed reading these notes. Very funny.
Good shot of the 3 of the Amanita muscarias.
I'm surprised to see them growing there among the clover. I've seen them under pine trees, but not in a lawn
