Spur-wing Plover Eggs.

This is as close as I could get with the 300mm + 1.4x converter and photo is cropped approx 50%, so not the clearest shot of the eggs. Had been raining and a really low light.
My choice as a focus point for the eye, I have selected focus on one egg for sharpness and left the others soft in focus. A smaller aperture would bring the other eggs into focus, its an individual preference.

Breeding occurs in late winter-to early spring. Birds pair for life and take up territories in May-July with successful breeding occupying 9-11 months. This period includes building the nest, incubation, brooding and caring for the young and defending the territory against intruders of own and other species.
The clutch of 1 – 4 khaki eggs with brownish, black blotches is incubated by both sexes for 30 - 31 days.
Young leave the nest almost immediately after hatching, and some young leave before all eggs have hatched. They are guarded by both parents when small and the young may scatter over as much as 200 m if disturbed, with each adult guarding the chicks closet to it. The young follow parents but find their own food. Young usually fledge at 6-7 weeks but may vary from 5-8 weeks. Young are independent at about 8-10 months at an average of 40 weeks. Many families stay together after the young can fly. Birds can breed in their first year.

wow the story continues, awesome to see the eggs, arent they interesting and a very nice shot of them, I like what you have done. Maybe one day in the not too distant future, it will be baby chicks. Great work, thanks for taking us on the journey with you.

Cheers
Nicki

Hi Kathleen,

It is always a bother deciding on the focus when the light is low. I like what you have done as it enhances your story.

Nice and close showing the nest area well.

Hi Kathleen,
i think you chose well to focus on the one egg, it's a nice effect and well carried out. Very good detail surroundings and subject, and an eggsellent( sorry!) low POV!

Hello Kathleen,
I like this picture. The subject is original. The POV, DOF and composition are excellent. The colors are very soft and natural.

Interesting notes about the Plover eggs, Kathleen - thank you.
Seeing how they nest in the open I hope the eggs are safe from visitors. They are attractive eggs - and I guess this camouflages them quite well too.
I like your focus here - well done
Janice
