Tropical fish - Yellow Sailfin Tang

They are small fish, very thin, generally reaching about 7.5-12.5cm in length and height, and 1-2cm in thickness. They are bright yellow in color across their entire bodies which are their trademark. Small, tightly packed scales on the body give the fish a velvety appearance. Like other fish in the surgeon fish family they have a number of small spines protruding near their tail, which is the reason for their common name, the scalpel fish. These sharp spines serve dual purposes as a means of defense and as an anchor on the rocks when sleeping. During the night, in common with many fish, their colour fades.

Finally back and with some time for writing something :)
What a SPLENDID shot! He looks like a little cartoon-movie star ;)

His bright and vivd colors looks simply terrific on that darker BG and the pose you captured him in is outstanding!
The details are also very sharp (not that easy when shooting through water and glass) and the DOF is impeccable!
The textures on body are also very well visible, the lighting and the lack of reflection from any source of light is most impressive and the framing and compo are wonderful!
Superb work!

Great angle Pam. I like the visibility of surface and structures.TFS

Great color and detail on this tang. Love the fact that you can see the individual scales. We use to have one of these in our marine aquarium... we called him Oink, as he ate everything we put in the tank... including things that he wasn't suppose to, as a species, like. He was a feisty character and we had to be careful when cleaning the tank, as he would, if disturbed, flick his tail in an effort to spike us with those caudal spines. Thanks for the memories, lol.

Another fantastic capture with good placement in frame. Well done.
