[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This jelly fungus is reasonably common in forests throughout New Zealand, indeed in temperate and sub-tropical forests throughout the world.
Tremella fuciformis is sometimes referred to as Silver Ear, Snow Fungus, or White Jelly Fungus.
It is usually found on rotting wood in autumn months, and has long been considered a delicacy in many countries, especially China.
I'm always pleased to find these, as each one is quite different, and as you can see, the way the light penetrates it provides exciting possibilities for the photographer.
I hope you enjoy looking at this one.
Cheers, Steve

HI Steve

beautiful subtle back light here, the fungus seems to glow by itself. Nice POV and details of the textures,

tfs,

Paul

Hi Steve,
Interesting fungus and a very nice back light.
Maybe closing the aperture a bit would get a sharp view of all the fungus parts - but looking at the speed a tripod will be needed...

Hi Steve,
I like how you controlled the lighting on this jelly fungus it makes it so your subject is illuminating from the inside. Pretty cool. :)

I like the way you captured the light in this picture. It brings out the structure of this fungus. Very nice, compliments Arjuna.

Fascinating and the lighting really makes all the difference. Amazing the beauty is such simple things as fungus!
