I visit in 2005 NZ, and of course I visit the Muriwai Gannetcolony. Just you can see that the nest is constructed just beyond the pecking range of neighbours. Thats give a regular effect on this photo.

Hello Bob
Golly, that is a lot of gannets. This overhead photo succeeded very well to show the "comfort zone" between the nests thus giving it this "regular effect" which you refer to in your notes. The vegetation in the bottom left corner does well to provide some scale to the photo and it enhances the feeling of height while overlooking the cliff at the scene below. I like that you included a piece of the ocean and did not zoom in to the birds only. Good effort.

That must be a wonderful place to visit. I have seen other great photos from there. I love all the angle/triangles in this composition. Exposure and sharpness are good. I love the spacing of the nests. A really cool shot. Thanks

Hi Bob,

Very, very good composition. The three diagonals bring a great dynamism and the succession of the natural elements (vegetal, earth, birds and water) is very well distributed. One of the most powerful, beautiful pictures I ever seen !

Interesting shot and I enjoy the layout here Bob :)
The birds spacing (as you've explained), does give the photo a unique "symmetry".
