Found a small group of these guys down on the local river bed.I found them quite a challenge to photograph, they just kept hopping around.
These guy are quit common around New Zealand.
There breeding season from september through to late february.
There diet is mainly small insects and seeds gathered on the ground |

Hi Russell,
Nice well exposed sharp image of this little guy, well done and thanks for sharing
Beautiful POV and nice composition. Colors and details are super ! I really like the pose, looking backwards, and those fluffed out breast feathers. DOF is perfect, isolating the bird from the background. Well done.. and TFS, Mish
Hi Russell,
I know what you mean.I was trying to shoot one of these at Taramakau on Friday but it took off. I do have a good shot somewhere which I will have to dig out sometime.
This is a nice clear shot and well composed.
I like the way the feathers are ruffled by the wind, and the curve of the birds pose against the background foliage.
Great stuff.

Hello Russell,
Great photo of this Pipit. Specialy the POV. Nice colours, pose and composition. It's sharp with lovely details in the feathers.
Good contrast against the BG.

Peter
