Hygrocybe stevensoniae
(Verdegris Waxgill)

Here again are the attractive green waxgills I posted a few days ago. You can see that these older specimens are a lot less glossy than the younger ones.
Hygrocybe stevensoniae, named after their discoverer Greta Stevenson, are generally a dull green on top of the cap, with a lumpy texture.
There is a similar species, which I have posted before called Hygrocybe gramnicolor (previously kinown as Hygrocybe viridis and Gliophorus viridis).
The other species has a much glossier and slimier cap, and is a brighter shade of green.
Hyrocybe stevensoniae is usually found on the forest floor amongst mosses, whereas Hygrocybe gramnicolor is more often sprouting from tree trunks (as in both my previous postings (under Gliophorus viridis or Hygrocybe viridis)
I often have some difficulty shooting these effectively as they are invariably in darker areas of forest, and artificial light tends to alter their colour somewhat.
I photographed these by placing a PETZL LED headlamp some distance away.
I hope you like them.
Cheers, Steve

Hi steve,
Very interesting plants, very nicely captured. Was it taken after rain or it was at a very humid location? Lovely green colors.

Hi Steve.
Nice to see the green ones, I've still to find a nice specimen for photos.
The light did work well showing them up for colour. Your notes are great as always, very informative and helpful for identification.
Thanks for your dedication to help us learn.

Hi Steve,
Extraordinary fungi formations. Lovely green colour and so soothing to behold. The soft lighting gives it an extra bit of ambience. You have an astonishing collection of these, one has to confess. Excellent POV to present it beautifully. Very nicely composed. Kudos.
TFS.

Good one Steve, you have some cool fungi over on the shaky isles.
Grren is an interesting colour for a fungi and I think you've done quite well here in the dim light. The back three are nice and sharp and contrast quite well against the moss.
Well done.
Chris

Absolutly beautiful. Really nice with great colours, sharpness.
Best wishes,
Achim
