[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Whether this is weathered,or whether this is how its supposed to look, the deep notches in the cap of this fungus give make it stand out brilliantly,in sharp contrast to the dark earth and leaf litter beneath.
This could be an aging Humidicutis pura, although I've a feeling that there's something else that looks like this too.I'll need to do a little research.Any ideas Clive?
Anyway,we've just had our first real rain after a long dry spell,so the fungi are starting to appear en masse. Even though it's autumn,it's like a second spring in the forest. All the filmy ferns and mosses and things that have dried out and become brown during the summer months, are suddenly restored to vibrant green.
Spring and autumn are my two favourite times in the forest. Well...summer and winter are quite good too, I suppose.

I like this one Steve. Old fungi looks very interesting. This one is a star of the forest :-) Excellent textures and dark BG. I like green moss also. Very good work!

Hallo Steve!

Nice one Steve. Looks like a star carving made of fat or dripping, surrounded by the wet moss. Yes, I will admit it does look quite good. TFS.
You know what? We might all become budding fungi, moss and lichen photographers by the time next summer arrives.

Wonderful macro Steave.
Before I opened this photo,I thought it is a comomile.
Very good composition.TFS...

I wasn't sure from the thumbnail what this was, certainly didn't think it was a fungi though. It is rather different Steve, contrasts well with the green moss, well taken.

Another interesting shot Steve. Some good details - enjoyed your note (You know, the tonque twister opening, "Whether this is weathered or whether") ;-)) TFS!

Astonish shape for this one (eaten by some bug?).
Good composition and detail level.
Well done.

Hi Steve, Humidicutis pure is usually pure white yours seam to have brown scales in the centre and fading out towards the edge of the cap. I have no idea what it is. It looks so old and worse for wear I would not have stopped to even photograph it :)

A very good capture and a most unusual looking subject.
Its stands out nicely against the dark background, very nice detail and texture.
Good work,well done.

It really is in a very moist spot you can see the dripping plants behind it. It is fascinating and I wonder how it got like this - I'm sure it's edges weren't originally this shape. Great shot of it though nice focus.
