The Norfolk Island Pine is an evergreen tree (Araucaria heterophylla) with incurved, decurrent needles, native to Norfolk Island in the South Pacific.

I found these leaves growing on a very tall tree and this new growth was growing there about 2 feet from the base of the trunk. The foliage is soft looking and light green. Leaves on young trees are narrowly wedge-shaped, about 0.5 in (1.3 cm) long; on mature trees the leaves are scalelike and overlapping, about o.25 in (0.6 cm) long. The juvenile foliage of the Norfolk Island pine is soft and pliable as well as durable and beautiful!

On Norfolk Island itself there is an immense hollow Norfolk Island Pine Tree (Hollow Pine) about nine metres in circumference with a hollow core. This tree is a living remnant of the giant forest trees which stood prior to European settlement. NORFOLK ISLAND is a beautiful, unique island, forested with grand indigenous pine trees, and with a mild subtropical climate ranging between 11°C and 18°C in the winter and from 19°C to 28°C (with high humidity) in the summer. The Norfolk pine originated here and is the island’s emblem.

Very good shot!
This looks just like my Araukaria - about 2 meters high plant that I have in my house. This is probably the same species.
You've managed to capture its beautiful leaves very well. I love this vivid green colour on dark BG.
Thanks for sharing.

Well composed, nice colors and good POV. The DOF was a little too short I think, i.e. the 'tip' is oof.

Nice shot Janice,
It looks so soft. Your part of the world is fascinating and wonderful. Thankyou for bringing it to us.
