Hello to all TN friends,
Today I am sharing with you a landscape from the themal area not far the Lake Taupo and a place called "The Creaters of the Moon"!
This is the largest crater in the photo that often discharges a lot of steam, especially after rain or cold air conditions. It last erupted in 1983 and pumice stones are still clerly visible. On hot windy days in summer you can see a myriad of colours in this crater.
To protect the fragile thermal environment, tracks and boardwalks was provided safe access around Craters of the moon. Before the tracks and boardwalks were put in, it was not uncommon for visitors to stray onto soft hot ground, resulting in burns to feet and legs!
The thermal acitivity at Craters of the Moon is monitored regularly by scientists from the Institute of Geological and Nuclear Science.
Hope you can enjoy it and thank you for viewing!

Dear friend Tony,
This is very different from shots of your in everytime. But very nice shot from interesting place. Up to read your note and title, I didnt understand what kind of place. As I know, such a activities relatively common on New Zeland. You present it with a great composition, POV and focus. Green grasses very nice for composition. Thanks for sharing. have a nice weekend

Hi Tony,

Not the kind of shot you usually present. Very interesting. I didn't know there was anything like this in New Zealand. An excellent view of the crater and the steam.

Jane

Hello Tony,

Thatss a surprise. A different shot from a very nice and interesting place. When you take a closer look to your photo, you can see a lot of different colourlines in the crater partition. This must be a marvelous place to be there on hot and windy summerdays. Good POV and BG from this thermal place. You smell almost the sulphur (-: Greetings and TFS BOB

Hi Tony,
It's an interesting landscape. Textures, colors, POV, details and composition look very nice. TFS
Best wishes,
Selen

It is indeed an unusual and etheral sight. Seeing the steams emitted from down below. I once had a secret location about 1 miles in from the Pacific Ocean, on a long ago hidden lumber road and then a short walk to the mudflats. Eventually my secret was discovered by USGS...It is a informational image Tony and well received.

Hello Tony, a different landscape today that is not as impressive at first sight as usual but that is as impressive when we read the notes as well. It is a strange thing for me to imagine a crater that is hot like that, we don't have such things here. Our earth is really alive and it shows it very well. Good exposure, it is very sharp and as usual, captured perfectly. Thank you!

Hi Tony!

Surprising, these craters. Aren't they dangerous? They seem to be hot! What a difference to what I've posted today. Our planet is full of variations and different beauties.

Kind regards

Markus

Hello Tony,

Interesting perspective with in not a typical Tony shot. Nice crater as the foreground with the stunning subjects ahead. All said all I can add is just another two points.

Well done.

Hi Tony,
I've seen some thermal areas myself, but never with such a rough landscape. The combination of the craters and the lush green vegitation is wonderful. I really like the fact that you both have steam and clear view in one photo.
TFS,
Niek

Hi Tony,

Interesting shot with a well written note.

Hello Tony,
Interesting shot of this crater, a natural phenomenon that looks like a quarry. Nicely composed with the surrounding landscape with craters and the steam clouds add a touch of mystery.
Thanks for sharing this interesting contribution,
