Hello Pam,
You have the most amazing birds in New Zealand and this one is no exception! I like the way he is showing of his 'rouge'.
The image is sharply exposed and the details of his plummage and features are excellent.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)
Many thanks for your kind feedback on ' This is my first!'

Hi Pam,
It's strange for me to see a bird like this in the wild. In Holland this is a very popular cagebird. Its a cute finch with lovely colors. Pose and sharpness are impressing.
regards,
Zeno.

Hello Pam,
This is an incredibly sharp and well exposed image of a very colorful finch. I have seen these in the Calgary Zoo and they are very flighty not sitting for long. Wonderful pose captured and that eye is superb. Thank you for sharing this outstanding image Pam.

Are these finches native to New Zealand as well as Australia? They are quite beautiful. The turned head gives us a nice view of him. It is a well exposed, sharp image. That is a nice lens isn't it? Do you find that using the extender produces a better image than just enlarging the 200m image?

Hello Pam,
this is an attractive bird and you have captured it well with sharp clear details and great looking colour. If I didn't read your note I would of thought it was a lot larger than the 10 to 11.5 cm because of it's very large (for it's size) beak.Thank you for this view of this attractive bird. Bob

Beautiful job Pam - Beautiful bird! :)
Suffice to say it's a lovely shot of this distinctive bird mf.
The Canon 300mm F/2.8 IS L prime is on my wishlist..
And I plan to use it often with my 2x tele, as you have here.
Hang in there,
Howard
