This is Austroboletus lacunosus, a smaller relative of the giant white boletes that I have previously posted Here for example, and that Chris (sandpiper2) also posted this evening Here
Here is some info I copied from 'Mushrooms and Other Fungi Of New Zealand' (Geoff Ridley and Don Horne)

Austroboletus lacunosus
(Flecked bolete)
Cap: 25 - 60mm diameter,at first hemispherical, becoming convex with age, slightly slimy in wet conditions but otherwise dry and scaly, often cracking up into a crazy pavement of flat orange brown to dark brown scales with white flesh showing through the crevices.
Pores: 12mm deep, with a large gap around stem, dirty white when young, pale pink when mature,angular,1-1.5mm diameter.
Stem:50-100mm high,7-10mm diameter, more or less cylindrical, tapering towards the top, srface finely honeycombed near the top,and becoming more coarsely honeycombed towards the base, white to pale brown at top to orange brown at base.
Ring: Absent.
Flesh: White,sometimes with red tints.
Spore print: Brown.
Habitat: Found on ground in southern beech, manuka and kanuka forests.
Fuiting season: Mainly in the autumn.

Hi Steve,
Very nice close up.POV,clear details, exposure, colors and framing are wonderful.Well caught and composed.
Thanks for posting.

Hello Steve,

What a beauty have you posted. Nice close up with good exposure. I find the diagonal position of this mushroom very attractive. The dark brown hat and the lighter colour of the stamp are very nice. That gives a good contrast. Razorsharp with enough fine details.

Thanks for sharing. Regards and TFS BOB

Bellissima presentazione di questo fungo, eccellenti POV e taglio compositivo, ottima nitidezza e splendidi colori in situazione di luce scarsa. Grazie e complimenti. Ciao Maurizio

Hi Steve,

Excellent shot of this Austroboletus lacunosus, the colours and detail are just superb, love the angle of the subject, and the separation from the OOF background is perfect as is the POV, really nice work mate, all the best,

Cheers Rick :)
