[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
If this scene looks familiar its because Chris Chafer (sandpiper2) posted a shot taken at the same place and time.
We were doing a round trip of part of the West Coast, from Greymouth,up to Westport, over to Reefton and back to Greymouth.
At one point we did a wee detour out of Reefton along the Christchurch Road past Blacks Point.
Further upstream we crossed the river over a swingbridge in the beech forest.
There were trout in the stream below, and the hills were covered in overgrown terraces and tunnels, remnants of the old gold mining days in this era.
Thanks for looking.
Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve, to me this looks similar to a shot I took several years ago of a river in British Columbia, Canada. It threw me for a minute, the similarities are incredible. I wish I still had that shot available so I could show you, but the meandering river, and the rock in and by the river is very similar as is the topography around it. I'll bet you can catch trout in that river.

This shot of yours is a good one with good late afternoon, warm light. With it you've picked up great colour on the water and vegetation. The detail is sharp and very good throughout.

Thanks, John

Hello Steve,
I like this shot very much because of wonderful warm light and very nice simple composition, good exposure and lovely colours.
TFS.

Hi Steve,

wonderfull landscape, very sharp and clear image. Beautifull colour of stones and river, nice composition. Wish I was there:).
TFS, cheers
Adrian

A very nice composition! The foreground rocks really add depth to the image, I do think the shot would've been much more effective if a polarizer or Graduated Filter was used to deepen the colour of the sky, but other than that you've done a great job here!

Hi Steve,
what a great POV you chose here, shows us the deposition patterns of this wild looking river really well. And the view stretches alll the way down the valley. Looks like a great place to take my new Canoe i'm getting :o)

Steve, this landscape looks like a New World being discovered... I mean, the first people coming into America from Europe must have seen something similar... it is so pristine. I also always appreciate and admire people who wait for the good light. This light is wonderful, smooth and round like the stones in the foreground. My eyes travel from them to the beautiful mountain, using the way of the river. When I finally discover the clouds at the end, I finally see the whole scene. Superbly composed ;-)

Hi Steve,
Both version (Chris' and Yours) are very fine. Fantastic landscape, great composition, everything's on the right place, with the right colors. Seems like a quiet and peaceful place, not to mention it's pleasant to the eyes. The forests beside the creek must be perfect for fungi hunting. :)
Congrats, tfs, best wishes to You and Your family. László

Hi Steve

Yes, it looks very similar to mine. the only real difference is the intensity of the blues; I did use a polarizer. But your greens are better IMO. Great scene, perfectly composed and excellent sharpness. Hope you can get back through winter sometime and capture it with snow on the peaks.

cheers
Chris
