Sorry everyone, its really late and I dont have the time for a long note. This is a beautiful white Heron. He is perched on the Greymouth Wharf, preening himself. He was a beautiful thing to have the prividge to watch.

Hello Nicki,
It is always interesting to see the wid birds performing their normal activities. You caught this one well, showing the suppleness of the neck and the versatility of the beak
I like the way the breeze is ruffling the feathers and the light is highlighting particular areas. You have done well to keep the white so well controlled.

Well taken, I agree it is difficult to keep the details in the white, you did well here with the exposure. The Herons in the states are grey-blue.

You're certainly getting the hang of that new camera! Well done. The ruffled feathers, the lighting and the pose all add to the interest in this shot. Good detail of the breeding plumage too.
