Silver Arowana Fish

Arowanas are beautiful, elegant, wonderful fish, and unfortunately taking this photo through the thick galss of the aquarium doesn't show it up too well.

The Arowana or Silver Arowana is related to early primitive fishes and is sometimes called the "Bony-tongued Fish". They are also known as the "monkey fish", or the "river monkey", is very adept to jumping, and will jump out of a tank at every chance given it, especially at feeding time when his lid is opened.

See how unique the shape of the Silver Arowana is. And it is quite elegant too. The way it swims, the way it eats, or even the way it attracts everyone’s attention.

Distribution:
The Arowana, Silver Arowana, or Bony-tongued Fish are found in the Amazon Flood plains.

Size - Weight:
These fish get up to 47 inches (117 cm). Usually they are much smaller in aquariums, with 24 to 30 inches being a good sized Arowana.

I saw this ONE fish at the aquarium at the Butterfly House. Yes, it does look like there are 2 fish here, only the top one is a reflection.

Hi Janice,
A nice capture of this beautiful arowana fish. According to fengshui or some type of Vastu it is good luck when you keep it in the house. Very well composed with sharp details. Although a bit noisy still then looks nice. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hello Janice!

Wow, what a strange creature :-) I didn't what is going on on your picture for few seconds :-) Definitelly this fish looks alien. Great POV with reflection on water surface and double main subject!

Big thanks for p-card my friend! I thought about you and your holidays yesterday - we've got something like tornado, I saw it for first time in my life! Heavy thunderstorms, wind and rain. One person in Lodz died, many are injured, many houses are damaged, even higway was destroyed. Strange times...

Hello Janice, I must give you good mark for trying this out from an acquarium. Its not easy to shoot in the box. Well done and indeed a good shot. Ganesh

Hi Janice,
Maybe not of the highest quality when it comes to exposure and sharpness, but the creative touch to this photo makes up for it all. The reflection of the fish on the surface of the water is wonderful and does give the idea that he's not allone. I like they way the fish is actually checking you out.
TFS,
Niek

Hi Janice

Another very beautiful capture from you and also very great and interesting view - from a lower POV and giving that splendid reflection for the fish.
Very well composed and exposed, especially taking into consideration the consition you had there.
Well done and well presented!

Bravo and TFS

I didn't read notes first and was trying to figure out if it was in some tank or not...but if not then how could it be...so I opted for tank. And now that I know for sure I can see just a bit of the noise on the glass of the tank. Great capture however. I dd one simialr at my daughters home last week...her's is a Beta??? never heard but beautiful...
