Hello Tony,
Nice to see that you are my neighbour!
This is a fine capture of a Spotted Shag, taken from a great POV showing the plumage well with good sharpness and lighting in a well-composed image.
TFS this beauty,
Have a good weekend,

Hi Tony,
well it may very well be that name but here where I live we just call them cormorants but which ever name they go by,this is a cracker of a shot. The pov is good if not all that natural a setting and the colours look natural with the white of this bird's neck and the pinkish feet looking just a little over exposed but for that I see nothing wrong with this presentation. You were able to get fairly close and that in of itself is no small feat.It is nice to see you have branched out to show some wild animal life in addition to your most excellent landscapes, thanks Tony for sharing this bird with us and I like very much the green of it's tail feathers. Bob

Hi Tony,

This is unusual from you!!! Wonderful shot of this Shag - a new one to me. I love the pose and the forlorn expression on his face. Lovely colors and the face and plummage are superb. What big feet he has! I left you a message on your last picture - please take a look.

Jane

Definitely a Spotted Shag, Stictocarbo punctatus.

Nice exposure with good feather detail - especially in showing the spots on the feathers.

Cheers
Elizabeth

Yes Tony it is a shag (as it is known in NZ). But overseas these birds are called Cormorants.
Good shot of the spotted shag, especially showing us the emerald green skirt the bird is wearing.
Well done
Janice

hello tony,
nice capture, looks like its waiting for meals, liked the pov and the composition, good details of the plumage,
tfs & regards
pankaj

The colours appear so natural along with the sea water....it looks like it truly belongs here and perhaps from the appearance I project onto its face, it knows this is where it lives and wishes it could be in the Bahamas instead:-)
Bob

Hi Tony,

Yes, this is a Spotted Shag Tony. In Holland we call them also cormorants. But what's a name my friend (-: A sparkling shot with very nice colors. A specialy the feathers at the back. Wonderful. I think that your shot was exactly on time. He stands fly away any moment.

Thanks for sharing and TFS BOB

Hi good friend Tony,
Wonderful shot of this great looking Shag looking onto the sea and waiting for oppurtunities to catch food. Very neat and sharp image with nice colours and details. I like the way you have handled the natural lighting and your POV to portray it. Very nice composition. Thanks for sharing this great image.
Sumon

Hi Tony!

Very nice details even in the darks, a very good shot! It's not recognizable at all that your main profile of photography isn't birds - maybe you should shoot more animals, I only would miss the less landscape postings!
It's interesting that the sea color looks exactly the same as lake Balaton's color here in Hungary. It could have even been shot here I only think the species don't live in Hungary :) TFS!

Have a nice day,
Andor

Hello Tony,
From the last weeks I had a lot of photos to work off. This one I enjoy very well. What a beauty in an excellent exposure. Good quality!
Kind regards,
Peter

Nice sharp shot, amazing birds with the spots and the green feathers at the back. the only suggestion i would make is that I might have cropped some more of the sea out. But hey still a nice shot.

Hi Tony, splendid Shag in great pose with fine details and excellent sharpness, great composition, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hi Tony,
This is indeed a Spotted Shag ... we have lots of them here in Greymouth, sometimes a hundred or more on the wharf at once.
You've captured this one perectly.
Its a nice clear shot with great details in the plumage.
Nice work!
Cheers
Steve

hello Tony

in my one month long absence i missed alot of your pics,
i decide to critique this one because it is a bird photo
and if i am not in mistake we don't see too much birds
photos from you, it is a excellent shot with fine POV and DOF,
i love the waves of the background, excellent sharpness and details,
for the framing i would prefer less space at the back
of the subject and more space on his front, TFS
