Hi Janice.
Lovely exposure on these fungi, the colour stands out beautifully against the tree bark. Good detail of them and where they are growing.

Hi Janice,
Very sharp and it stands out well from the treebark. Nature was kind to you as the way they are growing helps your composition. Well seen.

Hello Janice,
Fungi are beginning to sprout here too now as we've had loads of rain! This is a fine sharp view of these two on the tree.
Beautiful colours too and well composed.
TFS and cheers, Ulla

There are a few "shroom" folks around...not me..I think these are the "Common Tree Mushrooms" but I might be wrong...no...that was a toss-out...The contrasts and the angles of the shrooms are very neat...and quite the eclectic photographer you are..from the ocean to the woods..you're all over!

Kia ora Janice,
Brilliant shot, Madame. Excellent focus, details and natural colors. Wonderful.
ID specification: I'm more than sure it's a Pholiota, but I can't name the exact specie. Reminds me to Ph. squarrosoides, but I'm not sure at all if it's living on the Southern hemisphere.
Congrats, tfs. Best regards, László

Hello Janice,
I've often wondered about the difference between a mushroom and a toadstool, but as I understand it, mushrooms are edible.
Those that grow from trees and tree stumps are generally inedible but there are exceptions. This species looks like Armillariella mellea, considered edible.
It attacks various species of tree and leads to their death.
If I am right about the ID it has most probably been inadvertently introduced to NZ.
A fine sharp and well composed illustration and thanks for sharing it,
Ivan

Hi Janice
We don't often see mushrooms from you but these are great.
As for the ID .... hmmm .... I'm not quite sure yet.
We might have to confer with Clive on this one too.
Strange time of year to be finding fungi. Theres not many around here right now ... its been too wet.
Cheers
Steve

Hi Janice,
I am surprised no one has been able to name this one for you as its a common species.
Gymnopilus junonius I would not be surprised if thats a Eucalyptus or a pine tree that its growing on.
