This is another of my favourite places to visit.
There is hardly ever anyone around, and the limestone landscape is just fantastic.
There are caves, streams and huge mossy rocks everywhere.
This is one of several streams that cuts through caves and gorges in the Paparoa National Park on the West Coast of the South Island.
The forest here is mainly Nothofagus (Beech) with native broadleafs, podocarps, tree ferns & small shrubs.
It's difficult to get around on the mossy rocks and it can be difficult to photograph this kind of landscape.
Dappled sunlight here turns the rocks and gravel white.
Its just a matter of waiting for the right light, usually late afternoon, and trying each shot both in manual and auto modes ... sometimes one works better than the other for a certain type of shot.
I was especially pleased with this one, the only nit being the patch of dull sky.
Hope you like it.
Cheers

Hi Lord,
your favourite place is such a wonderful place. It is such a beautiful and to me it is like adream. Very scenic with mosses and lichen, and not to mention fungi. What aheaven.
I like the perspective her and the soft colours. The graphic of the branches and trunks are fantastic. what a place and it would be my favourite too.
Regards,
Foozi
Hello Steve,
The old trees and the green moss on everything tell about a place untouched by humans for ages..!
It is hard to find virgin forest these days...
The scene is well recorded, showing the details well!
Greetings,
