Scientific name: Himantopus himantopus
Size: 37cm
Status: Common
Diet: Worms, water fleas and small insects.
Habitat: Well vegetated shallow swamps.
Breeding: Nests in a pile of vegetation on water or waters edge. Four eggs are laid between August to February.

Hi Pam,
Great photo, strange that it is so underrated. The light and sharpness are great. I do feel that the b/g is a bit distracting and would have been better if it was a tat more blurry. It all has to do with capturing an animal that won't pose for you for a long time.
