| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is an image of a spider in the morning sunlight. The spider has captured himself a sizeable treat. I have posted an image of the same pair on TREK LENS. I chose this image for Trek Nature due to its colour and detail. I thought that there would be a person out there who would know what both of these guys are!
Post Processing was fairly simple, a bit of Leveling and a crop.
Enjoy, and Please let me know what you think! |

Hi Mike... interesting shot here.. spider!! very good macro and very good control of DOF..thanks for sharing. :)
Hi Mike. An interesting image. I've got one of the same spider with a fly.The spider here is a type of Orb Web Spider. The beetle is a Tanguru Chafer, often seen flying in large numbers on the edge of forests at dusk. You may also have found these on west coast beaches.
Its nice to see more kiwis turning up here.
Thanks for posting this here...and welcome to TrekNature.Hope you hang around. Cheers, Steve.

Almost perfect. Lighting and sharpness impeccable and two beautiful actors. If the "face" of the spider had been a little less crowded with the legs, the picture would have been fit for a book cover. But the bugs do not always choose to collaborate and those shots are not the easiest to manage.
Nice and interesting post, good POV even if it's hard to see what's happening.
Well done.
TFS.

Wielkie brawa!!!
Great posting Mike! What a macro shot! What are the strange white bars around? Are the from the spider web? Could you have worked them out? Thank for sharing this scary part of our small world!
