Rhipidura fuliginosa
In a resent foray in to the bush looking for fungi and not having much success I noticed a couple of fantails flittering about looking for insects that I might have disturbed as I moved about. Fantails are fast, catch food on the wing and seldom stay still for more then a few second. Making photographing them with a 100 mm macro lens under the tree canopy with low light a real challenge. I liked this one as it has caught bother the tail and wings in motion yet the body and head are relatively stationery.
One advantage I have in using digital I am able to turn the ASA rating up allowing me to hand hold the camera. To my surprise they came to within a meter of me and on one occasion checked to see if my boot lace was eatable or not :) |

Bellissimo momento di cattura, ottimi POV e composizione, molto buona la nitidezza, molto belli i colori. Grazie e compliomenti. Ciao Maurizio
And now we know how they got their name! I also like how you caught the flittering tail but were able to keep focus on the head very crisp. Great detail and the setting makes it a great capture. Cheers - Penny
Hi Clive,
This is a superb specie that I never had the chance to see before! I like this original capture with the mix of its blurred tail and very good details on its head and body. You made nice composition also. Thanks,
Claudine

Hello Clive,
a very fast action of you to shoot onto this bird. great clarity at the torso and it is action packed with it fantail quivering. Good to have a blurred BG as the birds being pushed out of the frame. Great shot.
