[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi there....I hope you are all having a lovely weekend!

Today I went to Walkabout Creek and hiked through the tracks there. After photographing many small birds, including Willy Wagtails, Figbirds and Grey Fantails, the computer disappointedly told me I need to improve my focussing with fast moving targets in the bush! So, I will have to keep chipping away so I can capture them again and upload them to TN.

The lovely Whiptail Wallabies in the refuge were much easier to photograph as they are used to humans and managed to wait and smile while I bumbled around with settings!

The Whiptail Wallaby is also known as the Pretty Faced Wallaby and its body length is 90cm, tail length 94cm, weight 16kg. It is grey above, white below, has a white face stripe, white ear-tip patches and a long thin tail.

It lives in hilly to mountainous dry open forests and woodlands with a grassy understorey. It is common on ranges and steeply grassed slopes of outer Brisbane, Central Queensland and coastal areas from Cooktown, QLD to northern NSW.

It is diurnal, is found usually in mobs and rarely drinks.

What an adorable little creature. You captured a tenderness in the face and the catch-light in the eye. Good stuff!

Hi Sue, very nice shot of this Wallaby. We saw a couple of these guys while we were up in Queensland last year, but they were too quick for us to get a decent shot. I like your composition in this one, you have the Wallaby nicely placed in this square crop, colour and detail are very good, and your showing off those great eyes of his.

Thanks, John
