Second image in the series of pictures on our trip the Girraween National Park, on this journey you will pass though some amazing landscapes, from massive granite outcrops,to precariously balanced boulders, clear streams, some wonderful wildlife including Eastern Grey Kangaroos, Satin Bower Birds, and Red–winged Parrots.

This shot was taken the morning we arrived at the park, we were heading down to a place called the “Granite Arch” it’s a 1.4km round trip to the arch and takes about 35 minutes.

We passed though blackbutt and stringybark forest’s to suddenly opening up to places like this, granite outcrops, with streams flowing through them.

Details shot Raw, and I also used a Hoya 82mm Pro1 Circular Pl to cut the reflection of the sky in the pool of water, this also had the effect of darkening the sky somewhat, then I converted to Jpeg, reduced in size and sharpened slightly for posting,

Hi Rick,
this is an interesting place and you have a clear and sharp capture of it with good colour.I am intrigued by the way the sky looks in this photo how is it possible that it can be so dark in the upper left and so light in the lower right handside corner? Thanks for this one with the unusual sky for me that is,sky. Bob

Even before reading your note, I knew you had used a polarized filter for this landscape, Richard. The deep blue sky says it loudly and clearly. Absolutely perefect use of this potent filter which I have yet to use. I have a Fujiama and I intend to use it this summer in the Himalayas.
with your 16-55mm lens and polarized filter, you have captured a delightful view of the Park. The refection of the sky on the stll water of the stream creates a beautiful effect.
Well done and TFS.

Beautiful sky seen in this shot Rick, capping off a great composition. I like your low position on this shot to capture this bit of water with the greenery behind, and that sky. Depth of field is very good on this one giving us great sharp detail throughtout the shot.

Thanks, John

Hello Rick,
This reminds me of Granit Gorge on the Atherton Tablelands. A fine composition showing from what seems like another fantastic place with rocky outcrops and little streams. Well done!
TFS and regards, Ulla
