Chalk-browed Mockingbird (Mimus saturninus)
Local Name: Calandria

of an adult male of this graceful bird so spread in these latitude.

Days ago I published a denominated image TWINS with 2 pigeon of the same species.

In this image they can read more information of this bird.

Pertaining to the family of the Mimidae, from exclusively American distribution, they received its unsuitable name of the first Spanish colonized.
These found resemblances to the European calandria, of the family of the Alaudidae, endemic of the old world, little similar and less become related with our species.

Of tame temperament, they approach the man trustingly, and even usually they live in the proximity of its houses, which has allowed that around them tiles interesting superstitions: its song, always considered of good augury, announces visits if they emit it near the kitchen, or notices that there will be new features if it comes from the patio.

If a calandria enters the house, it announces marriage, and it does not have to bother it.
When nidify near the country house it brings harmony in the marriage, according to it is created, and the opposite for whom one dares to destroy the nest.
Others say that if nests in the vicinity of the house it is death omen.

Very nice shot I like the shadow on the bird.
Well done Ricardo

Shadow dividing the bird on half makes the picture. Very good job.

Great close-up Ricardo! I like the way you've composed this frame & your subject has a good eye for the camera! The dividing shadow-line adds to the shot without distracting I think..Well done!

Very nice work Ricardo, I wish there was no shadow here but it's still very good. Well done.

I find that the shade confers a certain decency to the Mockingbird. What disturbs me more, it is this thing at the base of the nozzle, perhaps a feather or a remainder of food.

Beautiful work, Ricardo!

It's a nice composition, Ricardo. You must have been very close. I would have liked to see more eye detail but the shadow just fell across it. Such a lovely bird.

Has demostrado un gran control de las luces y las sombras, siempre un punto dificil sobre todo cuando coinciden en el objeto principal de la foto y con colores blancos. Bonito fondo con tonos parecidos a los de la calandria Gran nota como siempre.

Ricardo, Beautiful composition. The bird seems to step out of the frame towards me.
Greetings, Jan

Great Ricardo.
Very nice portrait with good composition, colours and details.
Well done.

When I seek this kind of shots so close and sharp I think always, what is the way to do that. I can’t get so close with this kind of small birds, they so timid and fast !
