Hooded Siskin (Carduelis magellanica)

A sequence with LP version of a Hooded Siskin taking a matinal bath... in first, shaking your wings, in second rubbing in the puddle, in third draining the water and the last one flying towards the branch of a near tree.

The Hooded Siskin is a wonderful bird that measures an average of 10,5 to 12 cm in length.
The males have yellow pens in all the body, their totally black head to hood way or magellanica.
The wings are sprinkled of black with symmetrical yellow strips.
The young females as pigeons is totally yellow of the color of the mature lemon.

The Hooded Siskin procreate in the nature in the months of October to March.
When beginning rains in the end of the month of August begin to join themselves and they are prepared for the annual procreation.
They establish communities where many pairs happen to coexist between the males, who stimulate to their respective females with their intermittent song.
They are, of that way until the end of the season of breeding, until the month of March.

There they begin to join itself in great flocks, pigeons and adults, migrate of a side for another one in search of food until the month of July, when they stop to change of pens.
They inhabit varied environment.
They, of a general way, wake up much interest in the domestic breeding, by their easy handling, its song, its beauty and because, on the other hand, they are possible to be crossed domestic canaries very well, making possible the production of hybrid birds with varied colors and a wonderful song.

Since favorable fact we have them Hooded Siskin reproduce with domestic environment facility, we can accommodate them in small spaces and its breeding, thus, can be done with few resources.
In the nature they consume almost all type of seeds.
Its song long and is chime, get to sing uninterruptedly of more two minutes, varying the sounds and changing of tone to embellish and to break monotone of the phrase.

Its song is used like stimulating for the other birds; he is the teacher of a community of different birds; when the Hooded Siskin sings all others around also do it.
It is interesting to be present at this scene.
long lived bird, lives in domestic ambient in average 20 years - everything depends on the treatment that is exempted to him.

Otherwise that's just great.
Well done.

Great set of photos. Very good quality and very well spotted. I like yellow colour in contrast to green grass.

A great sequence of shots Ricardo. An interesting set of notes too, made even more fun to read by the hilarious 'translate of babel fish'. Good work.

Superb sequence Ricardo. Well seen and portrayed here. Good Work

Such a nice set of action shots Ricardo. I have not seen this bird before. The dark headed ones are always difficult ot get that eye contact just right. Brilliant set of individually great shots.

Ricardo, ótimo trabalho x4. As cores do pássaro me fazem lembrar do Peñarol, aquele time do Uruguai que tem as cores amarela e preta na camisa.

Mais um grande trabalho seu. Parabéns.

Lívio

Very well done.
A great work! (pictures and note)
Thanks

Ricardo, This one should've been a song title from the 50's. You know "Splish Splash" I was takin'a bath! Excellent job especially in the large view version. Well done my friend!

A very good sequence Ricardo , you capture the action of this wash and brush-up very well.

Ricardo

Great story being told here. What a great colour of the plumage. The bird certainly needs a shower curtain with all that water flying around. Very nice presentaion of the mages. TFS.

Great set of four Ricardo, each one of the set is exceptionally good. Excellent work, great note. Thanks for posting.
