Hello!
This is not the best picture of this winter, but when I took it, it seems to me that there were some blue whales on the sky (because the shape of the clouds, like whale bellys).

This place is near Junin de los Andes, is the road between Junin and Villa La Angostura.
We were coming back from San Martin de los Andes to Angostura when I saw this sunset.

I think that it was really amazing: look at that mix of colours, the sun going down through the ´mesetas´... I´m in love of patagonia! Every place you visit is different, and it changes every day.

The pic was taken inside a car, so the focus is not so good. It was taken during late afternoon, near 20.00hs.

"these are lenticular clouds. They also go by different names an carry a mystique with them. They are a rare form of clouds also familiar to Mt Shasta in California. Lenticular clouds, technically known as altocumulus standing lenticularis, are stationary lens-shaped clouds that form at high altitudes, normally aligned at right-angles to the wind direction. Where stable moist air flows over a mountain or a range of mountains, a series of large-scale standing waves may form on the downwind side. Lenticular clouds sometimes form at the crests of these waves. Under certain conditions, long strings of lenticular clouds can form, creating a formation known as a wave cloud". [thx eqshannon]

Great capture of these striking clouds. The sunset gives the clouds a beautiful tinge. Nice composition and I can see why you love Patagonia.

This is a most fantastic and dramatic sun sky shot. The softness of the clouds is super...I love it. goood idea to take clouds.
It's difficult to take a great photo of the sky at the end (or begining) of a day because of the color and intensity of light.
please next time take time to go out of the car.

A nice set of lenticular clouds at sunset. They are created by winds coming off the mountains.

Amazing picture Brenda! The way you captured these usual clouds is perfect. Lite from below they are very striking but yet theres a softness to them. Ok I not a writer but I know what I like!!

Great composition Brenda!
The dark band at the bottom sets off the blue sky nicely.
Lenticular clouds have sometimes been mistaken as flying saucers. I think a skeptics magazine/website should post your image to illustrate how the confusion may arise.
