The common Cauquén, (Chloephaga picta), is native of America of the the five South Of cauquenes South American, this is the one of more extensive distribution. We found it from the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina towards the West of the continent, arriving to the Pacific, towards the south to Land of the Fire. Also it lives in the Islas Malvinas and in winter it migrates visiting Uruguay.
Habitat
This species occupies plains great part of the year, observing it in water obstacles in forests, patagónicos fertile valleys and matting.
Behavior
Resorting to the protection of the water during dumb and the young. In dumb usually it loses all primary and the secondary ones when wanting to fly, therefore it is left disabled person to fly. It is documented to him from the level of the sea to the 1500 meters of elevation.
Reproduction
It puts of five to eight eggs, taking 30 days to incubate.
