Seeing is believing – Patagonia

A high plateau with rugged mountains buffers a politically still disputed part of Patagonia, between a vast pampas field for Argentina and a thin lush coastal plain for Chile, a place between two most majestic national parks of the planet : Parque Nacional de Los Glaciares (ARG) and the Parque Nacional Torres del Paine (CHI).
There, with one foot on desert and an eye on the rugged peaks of Cerro Fitzroy is where I spotted large birds from the ostrich family, rheas, known as “choiques” (pterocnemia penatta) to the locals and gauchos. Its fascinating to see a vast plian and large magnificent animals like the rheas or the guanacos (lama guanicoe) would roam free the way God intended, reminding me that such landscape is not just a simple idealised memory Hollywood cliche. If it wouldnt have been for the gusty, strong winds of the pampas I mightve just stayed there and kepp starring at the magnificent spectacle unveiling before my eyes but that is a place where man's stay should be just transitory and so it was...
A panoramic shot might not look attractive as thumbnail but once opened up it has its power over the viewer.

WOW! Amazing scenery... and I like the Rhea stood there taking it all in!

Wow, what mountains. Its's a great combination of subjects. You were in the right place at the right time. Was the green really that fluroescent? I might have been tempted to tone it down a little and take some of the green cast off of the rhea. Still it is a great shot.

Nice landscape.
Tonurile sunt bine echilibrate, o chestie putim mai dificila de realizat in anumite conditii (cum ai cam avut pe-acolo, banuiesc)

Salutari, Petru

Hello Radu,
excellent landscape and composition. Very good your note. But I think there are an excess of green in grass and choique.

Hernán
