[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
After a very long break finally I decided to upload a picture.

I chose the picture from "voyage of my life", i.e. my expedition to the Antarctic and back.
Just on the way back to Europe by ship we stopped in Mar del Plata, the port on the Argentinian coast.
We were told that we will be able to see a colony of South-american sea lions - Otaria flavescens (O. byronia). And that was true. Just in the port of Mar del Plata the colony of these mammals lives.
However the strange thing is that they spend time in the water or on the small piece of ground between the living port and the old ship cemetery. These sea lions occupy also the working part of the port (I put two pictures of the surroundings of the reserve in my workshops). One could think who was there first: the port, and then came sea lions or the port cause that the animals had to stay in this kind of place. Personally I think that building the port caused the animals move somwhere, but than they came back.
You can also imagine what kind of smell you can feel there ;)

Anyway, South-american sea lion is the mammal that lives on the coasts of Chile, Peru, Uruguay and Argentina till Falkland Islands. They reach 1,8m (females) to 2,6m (males) and weight from 150 kg (females) till 300 kg (males). The sexual differences are very visible. Otaria flavescens feeds mostly on fishes and cephalopods. Sometimes also on penguins and young fur seals. Mating time is between August and December. Pups are born between December and February.

Cala prezentacja razem z notka i dodatkowymi zdjeciami jest swietna i bardzo interesujaca. Gdybym sam tego nie widzial bylaby jeszcze bardziej ciekawa :-) Troche malo komentarzy chyba dlatego ze akurat ten egzemplarz jakis taki zuzyty ;_)
