| HERON TRIMS Nycticoraz obscurus It arrives ceniciento; in front white; head, black neck and escapulares verdusco; long pens of the crest, white; down pale; length 65, wing 30 centimeters. In the Argentine Republic, this nocturnal Heron lives in communities. It spends the hours of the day put inactive in great trees or the rushes of marshes, and when, it disturbs it it elevates with heavy flutterings and a fort shout: "cua-cuá". To the putting of the sun they leave its retirement to overcome a stream or to look for some distant site where to feed itself and they travel with a slow flight, bird after bird, emitting at long intervals its nocturnal shout long-range, hoarse and seemed to a bark. In the places in which the flock lives (between rushes or in sites in which there are no trees) the birds, turning around the rushes, construct to false nests or platforms to settle. These platforms are very together, generally in the sinos in where the rushes are thicker, and serve to the birds for all the winter. |
