Rosy-billed Pochard or Picazo Duck (Netta peposaca)

Another imagen of Picazo Duck means in Guarani showy wings.

Characteristics: Head and neck brown very blackish, white beard.
Back blackish brown with greenish reflections.
Pink red tip with pitch black, a great one caruncle in the base of the tip pink red color; red iris; legs yellow ocher.
Female has the head and I strain sure rusty brown beard and white throat, dark rusty brown back previous.
Dark bluish gray tip; brown rainbow; legs gray olive.
Nidify from Mendoza, The south of Santiago del Estero, until north of Rio Negro; in winter migrates towards the north arriving until the Paraguay and south of Brazil.

Habits: It frequents marsh and lagoons of open waters and little deep.
It is fed much more on the surface of the water that of the bottom; mainly it eats aquatic plants.
It rather has short wings in proportion to his great body, and in order to raise flight it must cart a stretch on the water.

Once in the air it flies well and quickly. Nothing and is plunged well, but in earth he is quite clumsy to walk.
In winter it is congregated in flocks of up to one hundred individuals and sometimes of thousands, it stops to carry out local displacements or limited migrations, flying to enough height and in form of V.
Its very quiet; the single male pronounces a smooth quack in spring, hardly perceivable.

The male lacks eclipse plumage, which does that the beauty of its colorful one can appreciate year throughout.
It is a duck easy to raise in captivity, because he is enough peasant and bellwether and do not offer difficulties for the feeding. Very he is appreciated by his appetizing meat.

It nests of October to December, in very a well build nest, high and deep, with formed affluent rate of featherbed.
It installs in the ground to borders of lagoons or marshland, protect by the plants aquatic or between the grass.
The eggs are of greenish color or yellowish cream; they put 12 eggs that incubate during 26 days.

This is just an excellent shot Ricardo, your best so far in my opinion. There is nothing to critique, its nearly perfect. As ellis49 says, maybe just a bit more space on the left. Well done.

I agree, it is very good, unusual pose. I like reflection on the water and detail on wings. Very good job.

Ricardo, entiendo perfectamente el porque de lo ajustado de tu imagen, esos detalles y esos reflejos no se podían perder, sería un delito, asi que la presentación vertical y ajustada esta justificada en este caso. Los reflejos violetas de las plumas negras me llaman la atención+, pero lo que me fascina son los tres ojos y dos picos que salen en el reflejo, tuve que mirar dos veces. Un abrazo, Felipe.

Hi Ricardo, it's not a duck I am familiar with, I don't recall seeing it before. Very nice picture. I also think a little space to the left would do it good. Very good work.

The duck is very well seen the colour and sharpness are extremly fine. it could do with a fraction more space on left side of the picture.
