Ladybird... Metamorphosis

The last image of the sequence of Ladybird... in this case of another species of the same family and shows the moment which the larva leaves the shell to become adult.

Additional information

Eggs are laid in sheltered places. Sometimes these are laid in large clusters (such as the yellow egg masses of the 7-spot) but sometimes in rows or singly.

The pre-pupa hardens and becomes an inert pupa but, inside, their tissues are reorganising themselves - metamorphosis.

After some weeks, during which metamorphosis occurs within the pupa, an imago will emerge.

Parasites often emerge from small holes in pupae. Of course, not all larvae or pupae complete their metamorphosis.

This is a good composition and a pleasing image. The sharpness is not as good as your usual shots, but not distracting at all.

Very well done and thanks for posting

Very interesting and educational capture, Ricardo. Composition is wonderful ,but the Ladybird looks a little soft on my monitor. Lighting is superior in that it seems to spotlight the subject matter.

Good series Ricardo, sorry I have not had time to comment on them all but i have viewed them all with intrest, they show the sequence well.
Intresting that this one has the spots showing as it emerged, i watched one emerge and it took the spots over an hour before the spots started to show after it left the pupal shell behind.

Buena serie Ricardo, apesadumbrado no he tenido tiempo para

You had captured excellent moment Ricardo - I've never seen it before. Sharpness is good, composition also. Very well spotted!

Fascinating series, Ricardo. True TN work done with this series. I have never seen this in action as you captured it here. Well done.

Technically the picture is a bit soft, with some noise. The moment makes more than up for that. Great post.

Fascinating moment Ricardo. Though this shot is a little bit soft, I certainly like it a lot, because you captured "the moment". Maybe the speed is too slow and that's the reason for the softness. Good note on the Ladybug metamorphosis. Many thanks.

what a great shot and amazing series of the life-cycle of the ladybug, ricardo! :-)
i´ve never seen a ladybug emerge from her shell before.
excellent capture, well composed with good sharpness and wonderful colors.
well done & take care, thorsten.

Brilliant colors.

Wow!
i didn't know that ladybirds had this metamorphosis...
Nice shot! and I also learned something from it!!
Thanks, enrico.

Hola Ricardo,
Saludos
Hernán

Hi Ricardo,
A priviledge to see a rebirth of this ladybird. Perfect moment to capture. Very well done. Regards,
JC

Wow, I've never seen this before! I guess I hadn't even considered how ladybirds grew, even though they are a beetle and beetles come from larvae! An amazing find, thanks very much for posting, it really teaches me something about nature.

Hello Ricardo,
This is one of your picture that I haven't see yet ;) I like this very interesting and rare process that you witnessed. I didn't know about this transformation. This is a very educative and pertinent shot with good details. I like this lightning, POV and composition. You were there at the right moment! TFS,
Claudine
