What a magnificent capture! 2 in 1!
Excellent picture, taken from a great POV, with very apropriate DOF indeed and well managed exposre. The result was the very nice sharp details and the lovely colors. Also the subjects stand out well from the very nice blurry BG.

Parece imposible que hayas metido a estas dos dentro de la profundiad de campo con F4 y con luz natural... felicidades.
Estos días estoy aprovechando para hacer recolección fotográfica y gastronómica de hongos, ademas de no disponer de demasiado tiempo. Tendré que volver pronto para hacerte competencia con los macros :)

Magnìfica macro!!! Con gran nitidez de imàgen y grandes detalles. Tambièn estàn muy buenos los colores y el encuadre. La mosca que està sobre la flor la he visto en el jardìn de mamà, aunque es difìcil ver sus detalles sin aumento.

you know I love hoverflies and both yours are beautiful.
A very good catch, two differnt species, one in the air and one eating. The compo is very good, nice colours and well comnposed. Maybe it could be a tiny bit sharper, but thats a minor nit.
Very good work, old friend.

I have to wait 5-6 months before I can see any hoverflies again. ;-(

This is a very nice picture. Colors are great and POV, DOF and composition are very good. Focus on the main subjects on the right is very good, but there's some motionblur on the flying fly in the left. Anyway, a great picture all in all. TFS!

The wings of the hoverfly in the air are invisible, so that it looks like a missile ready to strike the flower :-)!
On the serious note, it is an impressive capture, especially at shutter speed 1/320.
Neat Image has the tendency to flatten out details. Have you tried Noiseware?

It looks like you were pretty close, so very lucky and skilful to get two hoverfiles, one on the flower and one approaching. Nice composition created by the crop. The flies are not super-sharp, it looks like the point of focus is in the petals of the dandelion, but it still looks OK.

Una toma realmente poco habitual con el valor documental delas que me gustan desde lo biologico en estos dipteros (sirfidos); seran dos especies diferentes? o un dimorfismo sexual? y es un macho que va por la hembra? le dejo esta incognita para investigar en la red ,fuente de toda sabiduria (si sabemos hallarla como en la vida)

Wow, this one deserves every point it has Ricardo. It is a beauty. difficult light or not, you have done really well with it.

nice to see some else using Corel software. Which version are you on. I haven't quite decided wether to upgrade to version XI... or switch to photoshop elements 5 which I can get very cheaply through work (a school)....

Hello Ricardo,

Superb picture of these two hoverflies!!! You did a great composition with those 3 elements (2 flies and the dandelion (btw, did you know that dandelion came from 3 french words "dents de lion" meaning lion's tooth referencing the leaves of the plant). You capture 2 different species but also 2 gender: The one on the flower is a male and the other one in fligth, a female... Great exposition (not easy on yellow) and dof letting us see a great blurred bg!

I like composition of this picture, which as I believe was not easy to take. here we have a good DOF and many important details are also seen. On the other hand I think that you sharped to much this photo (especially syrphid flies).

El sírfido parado en la flor es del género Toxomerus, pero no puedo decirte la especies con este nivel de detalle pues necesitaria mirarla con lupa ;)
