| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The rhea is often called the "South American ostrich," although it is not related to the ostrich. The genus name means "wing shoulder" (ptero-, Gr + kneme, Gr, the shoulder of a mountain) and the species name means "having feathers" (-ata, L + penna, L).
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
Height: 35 inches (90 cm) to the back
Weight: 22 pounds (10 kg), heavier for its size than the Common Rhea
Coloration: Golden brown tending toward grey, with white flecking throughout. |

Hello Gabriel...
I'm always fascinated by these guys, that is ostrich, emu and now your rhea... Surprised to see they are not related, at least I'd say they are cousins judged by the looks! And the hairdo... awesome!
Greetings,
Pablo -
Olá Gabriel,

Hola Gabriel,
