Blue-and-yellow Macau (Family: Psittacidae, Species: Ara ararauna) - Length: 80 cm. Found from Amazônia to Paraná, the Blue-and-yellow Macaw inhabits a few types of forests and várzeas with palm trees (buritis, babaçus, etc.) It usually migrates at certain periods of the year to forage for food, flying in pairs or groups of three, and maintains these configurations even when forming larger flocks. It nests in holes in large, dead palm-tree trunks, laying two eggs at a time. Its Brazilian names are arara-canindé, arara-de-barriga-amarela, canindé and arara-amarela.

Olá, Márcio. Gosto muito desta foto. Os gringos, diante de uma foto assim, de perfil, dizem "mugshot". É aquele tipo de foto que os criminosos tiram, como a gente vê em filmes.

Excelentes cores, belo contraste.

Por si só, a arara é muito bonita. Numa bela foto, mais ainda.
