Ordem: Ciconiiformes

Família: Ardeidae

Descrição: Adulta com plumagem branca, bico amarelo, pés e pernas pretos, medindo cerca de 94 cm.

Distribuição geográfica: compreende a faixa entre o sul do Canadá (América do Norte) até a Patagônia, no sul da Argentina. É encontrada em todo o Brasil e também pode ser vista em alguns locais da Europa.

Habitat: vivem em locais úmidos (banhados), nos chamados "garçais" (locais arborizados com fim de descanso).

Alimentação: Peixes, moluscos, répteis, anfíbios, caranguejos.

Reprodução: procriam em "garçais" entre os meses de janeiro e março. Colocam de 2 a 3 ovos de cor cinza azulado.

Hábitos, observações e curiosidades: são extremamente elegantes e predominam nos topos dos "garçais" por terem tamanho avantajado com relação à outras aves (garça-branca-pequena).

Hello Paulo,
well hidden in dense vegetation, that bird has been caught by a sharp eye. Focus spot-on, composition well balanced. Iconic pose, perfectly captured. Imbedded in blurred foreground and background, the bird looks like an actor in a world of pure imagination.
