Amazing capture!
I like so much the close approach you were able to do and all the sharp details got on the bird.
It's so beautiful to see this specie with the yellow stripe around the neck, not seen so often here.

voor een specht vind ik geel een geweldige kleur. Misschien ook vanwege de magische drieteenspecht die ik nog nooit gezien heb. Ook hier vind ik het dier er fantastisch uitzien. mooi vastgelgd ook vanuit een lage invalshoek.

If it were not for the yellow, or rather to say if the yellow were red it would look like a species from the Pacific NW. Very nice close in shot. Again a good show with a Nikon camera. Some say the difference between D70 and D50...so many are waiting for D300...just an FYI..

Hi Peter,
Woodpeckers are mostly seen on trees. Ones on ground are very unusual. This is great shot with beautiful colors, fine details, good lighting. good notes also.
