This is a Pato-real, or Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos). Although I have captured this duck while visiting a park in my town in Brazil, it is not original from South, but from the north hemisphere, North America, Europe and Asia. This is a beautiful animal, so men brought them worldwide.
The mallard is undoubtably the most recognized waterfowl in the world. The familiar duck morphology is complemented with a iridesent blue speculum on the wings in both sexes. On the male, the notable characteristics are the green iridesent plumage on the head and neck, and curled black feathers on the tail. The female's plumage is drab brown.
The familiar "quack" of ducks is from the female mallard--it is named the "decrescendo call", and can be heard for miles. A female will give the call when she wants to bring other ducks to her, such as her ducklings, and as a result it is also known as the "hail call". |

C'est une très jolie prise de vue que tu nous envoies, la présentation est très réussie avec ce colvert qui semble marcher sur l'eau, et cette souche en arrière de lui ressemble a une toutue qui veut l'attrapper.

Muy buena toma de este pato haciendo equilibrio sobre la rama medio sumergida. Bellos colores y buen contraste con el fondo.
