[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a Southern Lapwing (Vanellus chilensis). This is a beautiful and very agressive bird easily found in open areas in Brazil. We call them Quero-quero because of the noise they do. They nest on the ground and defend their eggs attacking anybody or anything that comes closer. They are very confident about the weapon they have on the wings. A sharp red spur that can be seen in this picture. You'd better watch out when you are under their territory. I was hardly attacked when taking this picture...

Something about it:

The Southern Lapwing ranges throughout South America except on the Pacific coast from Peru northwards and in parts of Amazonia.
It is found in open areas near water and marshes and is frequently seen near habitation and on farmland. Some farmers use them as guards as they are very aggressive and give out a loud call when disturbed.
The Southern Lapwing has red spurs at the bend of the wing which are displayed to rivals and enemies as part of the show of aggression.

Excelente imagen Fabiano de esta pintoresca ave también conocida por Argentina.... aquí lo llamamos TERO por su grito.
Bellos detalles con adecuado colorido y nitidez, donde se destaca el espolón rojo tan especial de esta especie.
Buena captura, bien hecho.

Beautiful details with appropriate coloring and clarity, where you it highlights the red spur so special of this species.
